Description

Apple Caramel Bombs are sweet, gooey treats with a spiced apple filling wrapped in dough and drizzled with caramel glaze.


Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough or 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 8 soft caramel candies or 8 teaspoons thick caramel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook diced apples, butter, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla in a pan over medium heat until soft. Stir in flour.
  3. Roll out dough and cut into circles. Place caramel and apple filling in the center of each circle.
  4. Seal the dough around the filling and place on a baking sheet.
  5. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Mix caramel sauce with heavy cream and drizzle over warm Apple Caramel Bombs.
