Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Glaze: 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
  2. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream granulated sugar and butter until smooth.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Combine flour and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  6. Pour half the batter into the loaf pan. Layer half the apples and half the cinnamon-sugar mix.
  7. Repeat layers. Swirl with a knife.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan.
  10. Mix powdered sugar and milk for glaze. Drizzle over cooled bread.
