- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup whole milk
- ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups peeled and diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: pinch of cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron.
- In a bowl, mix dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sour cream, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Fold in diced apples, brown sugar, and lemon juice.
- Cook batter in the waffle iron until golden brown.
- For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and optional cinnamon.
- Drizzle glaze over warm donuts and serve.
Notes
- Use tart apples for the best texture.
- Don’t overmix the batter to keep it light.
- Adjust glaze thickness with more or less milk.
