Description

A sweet and rich apple gooey butter cake that combines a cake mix with a creamy apple filling.


Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 cups apples, diced (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg until well blended.
  3. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese, remaining eggs, powdered sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  5. Fold in the diced apples.
  6. Pour the apple mixture over the cake base.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is set and slightly golden.
  8. Let it cool before serving.
