Description

A hearty and flavorful casserole combining baked beans and ground beef, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and diced (optional)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 30 oz can pork and beans (undrained)
  • 1 tbsp salted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the green bell pepper, yellow onion, and jalapeño to the skillet. Cook until vegetables soften.
  4. Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and yellow mustard. Mix well.
  5. Add the pork and beans (undrained) and stir to combine.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes or until bubbly and slightly browned on top.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra heat, leave the seeds in the jalapeño.
  • This dish pairs well with cornbread or a fresh salad.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
