- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- For the maple glaze
- ¾ cup maple syrup
- 1 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ cup confectioners' sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, salt, and baking soda.
- In another bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar. Add eggs, pumpkin puree, and vanilla.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Fill donut pan cavities ¾ full. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool donuts in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- For the glaze, heat maple syrup and butter in a small saucepan until melted. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, salt, and confectioners' sugar.
- Dip cooled donuts in glaze. Let set before serving.
Notes
- Use pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
- Don't overmix the batter to keep donuts tender.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
