Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • For the maple glaze
  • ¾ cup maple syrup
  • 1 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ cup confectioners' sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, salt, and baking soda.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar. Add eggs, pumpkin puree, and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Fill donut pan cavities ¾ full. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool donuts in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  7. For the glaze, heat maple syrup and butter in a small saucepan until melted. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, salt, and confectioners' sugar.
  8. Dip cooled donuts in glaze. Let set before serving.

Notes

  • Use pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
  • Don't overmix the batter to keep donuts tender.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
