  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons apple pie spice blend
  • For the Batter:
  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix apples, brown sugar, flour, and apple pie spice for the filling.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a mixer, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light.
  5. Add egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
  6. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the wet mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Add the apple filling evenly over the batter.
  9. Top with the remaining batter.
  10. Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar and heavy cream until smooth.
  12. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread.
