- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons apple pie spice blend
- For the Batter:
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- For the Glaze:
- 1½ cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a bowl, mix apples, brown sugar, flour, and apple pie spice for the filling.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a mixer, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light.
- Add egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the wet mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
- Add the apple filling evenly over the batter.
- Top with the remaining batter.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar and heavy cream until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread.
