Description

A classic sweet potato pie with a rich, spiced filling that's perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Sweet Potatoes: 2 large (about 2 cups mashed)
  • Granulated Sugar: 1 cup
  • Brown Sugar: 1/2 cup
  • Evaporated Milk: 1/2 cup
  • Unsalted Butter: 1/2 cup (melted)
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon
  • Ground Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
  • Ground Nutmeg: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
  • Unbaked Pie Crust: 1 (9-inch)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Boil or bake the sweet potatoes until tender, then mash them well.
  3. In a bowl, mix the mashed sweet potatoes, granulated sugar, brown sugar, evaporated milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust.
  5. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the center is set.
  6. Let the pie cool before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, roast the sweet potatoes instead of boiling them.
  • Use room-temperature eggs for a smoother filling.
  • Check the pie at 50 minutes—if the crust browns too quickly, cover it with foil.
