A delicious Chicken Philly Cheese Steak recipe featuring tender chicken, sautéed vegetables, and melted cheese.

- 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs), thinly sliced against the grain
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons olive oil, divided (plus more as needed)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 bell peppers (green and red), thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 6–8 slices provolone (or white American)
- 4 hoagie rolls, split (lightly toasted optional)
- Optional spreads: garlic-herb mayo, Dijon, or a pat of butter
Instructions
- Heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the butter and remaining olive oil to the skillet.
- Stir in the onions and bell peppers, cooking until softened, about 5-6 minutes.
- Add garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and mix well.
- Top the chicken and vegetables with cheese slices. Cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
- Serve the mixture in hoagie rolls with optional spreads if desired.
