Description

A delicious Chicken Philly Cheese Steak recipe featuring tender chicken, sautéed vegetables, and melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil, divided (plus more as needed)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers (green and red), thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 68 slices provolone (or white American)
  • 4 hoagie rolls, split (lightly toasted optional)
  • Optional spreads: garlic-herb mayo, Dijon, or a pat of butter

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add the butter and remaining olive oil to the skillet.
  5. Stir in the onions and bell peppers, cooking until softened, about 5-6 minutes.
  6. Add garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  7. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and mix well.
  8. Top the chicken and vegetables with cheese slices. Cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  9. Serve the mixture in hoagie rolls with optional spreads if desired.

  • Use any cheese of your choice.
  • For added flavor, consider marinating chicken in Worcestershire sauce for a few hours.
