Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- For the Sugar Coating: 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- For the Filling [optional]: 1 cup dulce de leche
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour, sugar, butter, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Roll the dough out and cut it into rectangles.
- Fill with dulce de leche if desired, then roll into a cruffin shape.
- Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
- Coat warm cruffins in sugar mixture before serving.
Notes
- Store leftover cruffins in an airtight container.
- Experiment with different fillings like chocolate or cream cheese.
