Description

Churro Cruffins are a delightful fusion of churros and croissants. They are flaky, sweet, and perfect for a treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For the Sugar Coating: 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • For the Filling [optional]: 1 cup dulce de leche

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, sugar, butter, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Roll the dough out and cut it into rectangles.
  6. Fill with dulce de leche if desired, then roll into a cruffin shape.
  7. Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  9. Mix sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
  10. Coat warm cruffins in sugar mixture before serving.
