Peach Filling:

  • 6 cups fresh peaches (peeled and sliced)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, toss peaches with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Let sit 10–15 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into prepared dish. Spoon peach mixture over batter—do not stir.
  5. Bake 45–55 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Cool 15–20 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Substitute canned or frozen peaches if fresh aren't available.

  • Add cornstarch if using extra juicy peaches.

  • Sprinkle coarse sugar or sliced almonds on top before baking for texture.
