Ingredients

- 1 1/4 cups chicken broth
- 1 1/4 cups half and half
- 1/2 chicken bouillon cube
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 3/4 teaspoons dried parsley
- 3/4 teaspoons dried basil
- 3/4 teaspoons dried oregano
- 3/4 teaspoons mustard powder
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups broccoli florets, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup carrots, julienned
- 1/2 cup red onion, sliced
- 1 cup red bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 zucchini, cut into chunks (equal to 1 1/2 cups)
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved or quartered
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1/2 lb. ziti
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions
- Cook ziti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add broccoli, carrots, red onion, bell pepper, and zucchini. Sauté for 5-7 minutes.
- Add peas and cherry tomatoes. Cook for 2 minutes more. Season with salt and pepper. Remove vegetables and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually add chicken broth, half and half, bouillon cube, soy sauce, and hot sauce. Stir until smooth.
- Add parsley, basil, oregano, mustard powder, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
- Stir in parmesan cheese until melted.
- Add cooked pasta and vegetables to the sauce. Toss to coat.
- Drizzle with lemon juice before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh vegetables for best flavor.
- Adjust hot sauce and red pepper flakes for desired spiciness.
- Garnish with extra parmesan if desired.
