Scale
  • 2 large sweet onions (finely chopped)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Stir in onions and milk until a thick batter forms.
  3. Heat 1/2 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat (about 350°F).
  4. Drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the oil and slightly flatten.
  5. Fry 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crisp.
