A hearty and flavorful casserole that combines the classic flavors of cabbage rolls with the convenience of a crockpot.

- 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Chop the cabbage and onion.
- Mince the garlic.
- Brown the ground beef or turkey in a skillet.
- Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
- Transfer the meat mixture to the crockpot.
- Add the chopped cabbage, uncooked rice, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Stir well to combine.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- If using cheese, sprinkle it over the top during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- You can use ground turkey for a leaner option.
- Adjust the seasoning to your taste.
- For a vegetarian version, omit the meat and add more rice or beans.
