Description

A hearty and flavorful casserole combining ground beef, French onion soup, and rice for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon garlic salt, to taste
  • 2 (10.5-ounce) cans beef consommé
  • 2 (10.5-ounce) cans French onion soup
  • ¾ cup water
  • 2 cups uncooked long grain white rice
  • ¾ cup butter, cut into slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Season the beef with garlic salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine beef consommé, French onion soup, and water.
  5. Stir in uncooked rice.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  7. Top with sliced butter.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until rice is tender.
  10. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust garlic salt to taste.
  • For a richer flavor, use homemade beef broth instead of consommé.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
