- 1 pound lean ground beef
- ½ to 1 teaspoon garlic salt, to taste
- 2 (10.5-ounce) cans beef consommé
- 2 (10.5-ounce) cans French onion soup
- ¾ cup water
- 2 cups uncooked long grain white rice
- ¾ cup butter, cut into slices
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Season the beef with garlic salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine beef consommé, French onion soup, and water.
- Stir in uncooked rice.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
- Top with sliced butter.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until rice is tender.
- Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Adjust garlic salt to taste.
- For a richer flavor, use homemade beef broth instead of consommé.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
