Description

A hearty dish combining tender steak with cheesy potatoes, flavored with garlic butter.


Ingredients

  • Ribeye or sirloin steaks (choose tender cuts)
  • 4 large Russet potatoes (peeled and thinly sliced, about 1/8 inch thick)
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese (shredded, sharp or extra-sharp)
  • 6 tablespoons Butter (real butter)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme (plus extra for seasoning)
  • 1 teaspoon Dried rosemary (plus extra for seasoning)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season steaks with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steaks for 3-4 minutes per side, then set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  5. Layer potato slices in a baking dish, drizzle with garlic butter, and season with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
  6. Top potatoes with shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Slice steaks and arrange over the potatoes.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline for even potato slices.
  • Let steaks rest before slicing to retain juices.
  • Substitute Gruyère or mozzarella for cheddar if preferred.
