Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup molasses

  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Extra granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in molasses and egg.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then coat in sugar.
  7. Place on baking sheets, 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set.
  9. Cool on wire racks.
