- 1 box orange cake mix (15.25 oz)
- 1 cup orange soda or orange juice
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 (3.4 oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 cup cold milk
- 1 teaspoon orange extract (optional)
- 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
- Orange zest or orange slices (optional garnish)
- White chocolate shavings (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven according to the cake mix instructions.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, orange soda or juice, vegetable oil, and eggs.
- Mix until well combined.
- Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
- Bake as directed on the cake mix box.
- While the cake cools, prepare the filling by whisking together the pudding mix and cold milk.
- Add orange extract if desired and mix until smooth.
- Fold in the whipped topping gently.
- Once the cake is cool, slice it in half horizontally.
- Spread the filling between the layers and on top of the cake.
- Garnish with orange zest or slices and white chocolate shavings if desired.
