Description
Delicious red velvet cinnamon rolls with a cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients

- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup warm milk (110°F)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- ½ cup unsalted butter (for filling)
- ¾ cup brown sugar (for filling)
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon (for filling)
- 4 oz cream cheese (for frosting)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add warm milk, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix until combined.
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread softened butter for filling over the dough, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting by mixing cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
- Spread frosting over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Reheat rolls in the microwave for a few seconds before serving.
