Soft maple sugar cookies with a sweet maple icing.
Ingredients

- 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp maple extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 tsp maple extract
- A pinch of kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and maple extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
- Scoop dough into small balls and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- For the icing, whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, maple extract, and salt until smooth.
- Drizzle icing over cooled cookies and let set before serving.
Notes
- Use room temperature ingredients for best results.
- Do not overmix the dough to keep cookies soft.
