Description

Soft maple sugar cookies with a sweet maple icing.


Ingredients

  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp maple extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 tsp maple extract
  • A pinch of kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and maple extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
  6. Scoop dough into small balls and place on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  9. For the icing, whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, maple extract, and salt until smooth.
  10. Drizzle icing over cooled cookies and let set before serving.
