Description

A classic Southern sweet potato casserole with a crunchy pecan topping.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup milk

Topping:

  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Boil sweet potatoes until tender, then mash.
  3. Mix in sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, and milk.
  4. Spread mixture into a greased baking dish.
  5. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over the sweet potato mixture.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • You can use canned sweet potatoes for convenience.
