Spaghetti Garlic Bread

Description

A delicious combination of spaghetti and garlic bread.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 4 quarts water
  • 2 tablespoons salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 loaf Italian bread, about 24 inches long
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 quarts of water to a boil in a large pot. Add 2 tablespoons of salt.
  2. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  3. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Once spaghetti is done, drain and reserve some pasta water.
  5. Add spaghetti to the skillet with garlic oil. Toss to combine, adding parsley and Parmesan cheese. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  6. For garlic bread, preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Mix softened butter, garlic, parsley, Parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  8. Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on each half.
  9. Place bread on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden and toasted.
  10. Serve spaghetti hot with garlic bread on the side.

Notes

  • Adjust garlic and seasoning to taste.
  • Use more Parmesan for serving if desired.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
