- 1 tablespoon olive oil

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, finely diced
- 1 celery stalk, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 cup chicken or seafood stock
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon wedges
- Cooked white rice, grits, or crusty bread
Instructions
- Season shrimp with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook shrimp for 2 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt butter with olive oil. Add onion, bell pepper, and celery. Cook until softened.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, thyme, and oregano.
- Pour in stock and hot sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Return shrimp to the pan. Cook for 2 more minutes.
- Season with salt and black pepper.
- Garnish with parsley and serve with lemon wedges and rice, grits, or bread.
Notes
- Adjust cayenne pepper and hot sauce for desired spiciness.
- Use fresh shrimp for best texture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
