Description

A hearty casserole that combines all the flavors of a walking taco in one dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 3 oz cream cheese
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can green chilis
  • 2-3 cups Fritos corn chips
  • 1 cup shredded taco blend cheese
  • 1 Roma tomato, chopped
  • 1-2 cups shredded lettuce
  • Salsa and sour cream for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is cooked through.
  3. Add cream cheese, taco seasoning, and green chilis to the skillet. Stir until well combined.
  4. In a baking dish, layer half of the Fritos corn chips on the bottom.
  5. Spread the beef mixture over the chips.
  6. Top with shredded taco blend cheese.
  7. Add the remaining Fritos on top.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and top with chopped tomato and shredded lettuce.
  10. Serve with salsa and sour cream on the side.

Notes

  • Feel free to add other toppings like jalapeños or olives.
  • This dish can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
