- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for streusel)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed (for streusel)
- ½ cup powdered sugar (optional glaze)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk or cream (optional glaze)
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and sour cream.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in diced apples.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- For the streusel, mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the batter.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack.
- For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over cooled bread.
Notes
- Use firm apples like Granny Smith for best texture.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
