- 2 large sweet onions finely chopped
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¾ cup milk
- Oil for frying vegetable or canola
In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
Stir in onions and milk until a thick batter forms.
Heat ½ inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat (about 350°F).
Drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the oil and slightly flatten.
Fry 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crisp.
