These Homemade Krispy Kremes are light, airy, and coated in a classic sweet glaze. Just like the originals—only better because they're made fresh in your own kitchen! Perfect for weekend baking, holidays, or whenever you're craving something sweet and special.

Ingredients
  

Doughnuts:

  • 3 tablespoon milk
  • 3 tablespoon boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon dry active yeast
  • 8 oz all-purpose flour approx. 2 cups
  • 1.5 oz granulated sugar approx. 3 tbsp
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 oz butter cold or room temp
  • A pinch of salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Glaze:

  • cup butter
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoon hot water more if needed

Optional Toppings:

  • Sprinkles
  • Melted chocolate drizzle
  • Cinnamon sugar
  • Powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Mix milk and boiling water. Let cool, then stir in yeast and rest for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add yeast mixture, egg, and butter. Mix to form a dough.
  • Knead for 5–10 minutes. Place in greased bowl, cover, and rise 1 hour.
  • Roll out dough to ½ inch. Cut into doughnut shapes. Cover and rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry doughnuts for 1 minute per side. Drain on paper towels.
  • For glaze: Melt butter, add sugar, vanilla, and hot water. Whisk until smooth.
  • Dip warm doughnuts in glaze and place on a rack to set. Decorate if desired.

Notes

  • Dough can be prepped the night before and refrigerated.
  • Don’t overcrowd the frying pan.
  • Freeze unglazed doughnuts for up to 1 month.
  • Bake at 375°F for 10 minutes for a lighter version.
